The Driver, Shawn Ellington
Shawn Ellington aka Murder Nova was born in Merced California in 1977. He moved to Sayre Oklahoma in 1982 where he grew up sweeping up in the auto body shop that his dad Richard owned. Shawn moved to Oklahoma City in 2005 and not long after purchased what would become the Murder Nova. From the early days of procharged power to the twin turbo set up he has now, the flat black 1969 Nova has been an ongoing project to stay one step ahead of the competition and remain the fastest street raced car in the country.
The Murder Nova has become one of the most recognizable cars in the country. This 1969 Chevy Nova is powered by a Big Block Chevy Pro-line engine. For fun, Shawn added two Precision 88mm Pro Mod Turbo Chargers. The car pushes about 3,400hp. It is a 572 fitted with a Lunati crank, Oliver connecting rods, Diamond Pistons and 380cc Dart Pro 2 cylinder heads. The Cam is a solid roller Comp cam with Comp lifters and pushrods. New this season is Fuel Techs FT 500 sequential-port fuel-injection system. It houses Billet Atomizer fuel injectors built by Alan Johnson. The header and turbo plumbing is Stainless Works and was build by Jeff Lutz, of Lutz Race Cars.
